i know... how cool would that be??!.
having just commented on the post by trailerfitter about the situation with his wife, and how i have personally found the book crisis of conscience by ray franz to be the perfect antidote to the society's perception of itself as being god's earthly organisation, the thought occurred to me: what if there was a movie about ray franz and his life?
obviously the society would be in uproar, and letters would be read out to all congregations all over the world not to go and see it, but just imagine!

i have long had an idea that i think is a very powerful tool in reaching even hard-nosed jw's.. .
it would consist only of actual photographic scans of various documents, articles, photographs such as these from marvin shilmer's blog: (see next panel).
there would be no extraneous non-official text whatsoever.. it would be published the size of an old life magazine and sent anonymously to jw's at their homes.. the cover would clearly contain the words: "all contents originally published by watchtower bible &tract society".
i thought i would never get my college degree from a university in this century at the age of 48 but i did it and graduated with an "a-" average.
i did this all the while working a full time job and going to school full time.
it can be done and now i love school to death.
Congratulations! You have proved that you are a SURVIVOR and not a VICTIM!
May I ask what field your degrees will be in?
i thought this was so insanely stupid that it made it funny, so i had to share.
living in "the bible belt", i meet people with this sort of mentality all the time but this guy takes the cake!
let's all applaud this guy for reaching new lows in his preachy narrow-mindedness that it was barely interesting enough that a reporter was desperate enough for a story wrote about it.. http://nymag.com/daily/intel/2011/08/florida_pastor_asks_why_atheis.html.
This is really a GREAT idea: by elimination we would know who all the "believers" are.
If their name is not "written in the book," ROUND 'EM UP!
elder?.
pioneer?.
publisher?.
During the Pastor Russell days, there were men who served as "Pilgrims" that were like today's Circuit Servants, and a bit later on (probably during rutherford's reign, given his fondness for military terminology), there were people who were called "sharpshooters", but I'm not real clear on what their function was.
"Elder" is a direct english equivalent of the Greek word presbys (old man), and "ministerial servant" is the Watchtower's version of the Greek word diakonos (servant) which other churches call "deacons."
it's abhorrent to the average human .
but what motivates this sort of behaviour?.
i'm interested in what others think.. .
It's cultural diversity, who are we to judge? /sarcasm off/
i have seldom given money to beggars.
i have often thought that many are people who just do not want to work.
however, i am starting to wonder if i ought to: and how much to give?.
I don't give anything to strangers.
I give to reputable charitable organizations, food banks and people I know who are having a rough time.
I have also joined with other to support a local research project that is going to find out what the true stories are behind some panhandlers in my area; it is known that some of these guys are massive frauds and scammers. We want to find out how to tell the difference, and what best helps those who are really in need.
the january 2011 issues were printed in canada so the change was made.. the wts spent millions of dollars enlarging and updating the printing operations in wallkill so they could consoladate the book and magazine printing at the one location.
it was in 2004 that they stopped the presses in brooklyn and began book production in wallkill.. now just 6 years later they suppossedly sold several of their presses from the u.s. and canada, bought a large new very fast press for canada and had to enlarge the printery there to accomodate it.. now the canada branch will print over 260 million magazines for the u.s.each year and all the expansion done in wallkill was for nothing.. does anyone know why this was done?.
I agree that probably part of the motivation is to shift the cost of healthcare from the Society to the Canadian Taxpayer - who seems to have absolutely no problem with such a wonderfully progressive arrangement. "Sure, put MORE parasitic monkeys on my back!"
I think another motivation has to do with limiting the liability the WTB&TS has for "retirement benefits" due to long-time "volunteers" -- isn't there a legal action underway involving Bethel and a long-time "volunteer" who wants disability benefits? If this action succeeds, it sets a precedent for the WTB&TS that they will not enjoy.
These changes are facilitated by technology, which allows the pinheads in Patterson or wherever to continue to spew their bilge and *blip* it electronically to a press in The Great White North. Does Canada have enough membership to support the manpower needs of the printing facilities? You can be sure that only Canadian citizens will be called to serve in the pressroom of the "holy of holies."

Hmmm... "Johnnie the Bethelite" is in a closer that might get flooded...
so it's a "water closet"...
and by that we can deduce that Johnnie's real name is John Crapper!
i picked this thought up elsewhere, and it's been worming its way through my brain.... a friend of a friend was notified not long ago that one of his jw peers since childhood had died.
in itself, this is not too remarkable, because these guys are now into thier 60s, and mortality certainly does begin to raise its ugly head at about that time in one's life: either your friends die and leave you, or you die and leave them.. but the question came up, "can we say that roger, personally, was living "in the time of the end" if the end didn't come while he was alive?".
it seems obvious that poor dead roger was not living in the time of the end.. the question that flows from this is, "am _i_, personally, living in the "time of the end"?.
Thank you all for adding additional "meat in due season" to the pottage I sod ( Genesis 25:29 KJV) .
Yes, poor dead Roger was a faithful witness most of his life, taught in the ways of Jah by his surviving and grief-stricken mother.
According to the WTB&TS he was a "true Christian." According to the WTB&TS this means he had one of two hopes: heavenly or "great crowd" of Tribulation survivors.
But now poor Roger finds himself demoted to the hoi polloi (greek: "the many"): those who might be resurrected.
Roger lived and died thinking he had a ticket to the tribulation. Sorry, Roger. No rainchecks, no refunds. No soup for you!
